Young Scientists' Day Camp

A day camp for kids aged 10–14 who love thinking, discovering and asking questions. They can look forward to experiments, challenges and projects they wouldn't normally easily get to, and an environment where they have space to go deep – and where even the most demanding brainiacs really won't be bored.

Five days of experiments, thinking and discovery for curious kids who keep asking „Why?“ and love to explore how things work.

We run this camp because science fascinates and delights us. When we were little, we lacked inspiring instructors who would give us enough stimulation and could answer our questions in depth. This is what we want to offer kids.

With us, kids immerse themselves in exploring the world around them, ask questions, experiment, think – and experience that moment:

„Aha… so that's how it works!“

It's exactly these moments, when a child connects the dots for themselves and truly understands something, that build healthy self-confidence, the joy of discovery and trust in their own thinking.

Besides plenty of food for thought, the kids can also look forward to active and game-based activities (e.g. NERF).

What can the kids look forward to?

The main focus is biology, chemistry, maths, programming and physics activities that grab the kids' attention and show them they can figure out trickier things than they'd expect.

Concrete activities:

  • A dissection with expert commentary (optional – everyone chooses for themselves)
  • Experiments in biology, chemistry and physics
  • Playful mini-lectures that tie the experiments together
  • Programming challenges
  • Building electric circuits
  • A NERF battle and active games as a natural rest for the brain

At the camp the kids also have plenty of things on hand to play with on their own at any time:

  • Building sets (Spintronics, Boffin, LEGO)
  • Various board games (e.g. Galaxy Trucker, Cabo, Ticket to Ride and more)
  • Materials for making and crafting (e.g. face paints, blow pens)

Our approach to children

Read this if it's your first time with us – it will help you understand how we think about children and why we do some things differently.

At our events we share with the children our enthusiasm for the things we love, and together we create an inspiring environment. Children can join in whenever they want – we always offer them help, encouragement and room for their own pace and ideas.

But we never force them into anything. We see them as fully-fledged human beings who have the right to decide how they want to spend their time – even if they just want to step aside for a while or rest with a phone or tablet. Our priority is that they feel good and enjoy what they do, not that they live up to adults' expectations.

We're happy to talk with parents about how our environment can be as beneficial as possible for their children. At the same time, we respect that taking part in activities is always the child's free choice – and even the times they choose not to take part can be an important part of their learning and self-discovery.

If it were important to you that your child takes part in activities at any cost, our events probably won't be a good fit for you. We give priority to respect and voluntariness over pressure and obligation.
